INTERSTATE 64 WESTBOUND CLOSED AT MILE MARKER 124
Tractor trailer overturned causing substantial back-ups
CULPEPER — At this hour, the Virginia Department of Transportation, Culpeper District is reporting 4 mile back-ups on Interstate 64 at exit 124 in the westbound lanes after a box truck collided with a tractor trailer. The impact caused the tractor trailer to overturn, spilling corn onto the roadway.
It happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. VDOT crews are on scene helping to clear the roadway. Drivers are being diverted off the Interstate onto U.S. 250 (Richmond Road), and then through the city of Charlottesville.
The 124 on-ramp from U.S. 250 onto Interstate 64 westbound could take hours to re-open. Drivers should avoid the area if at all possible.
