Crews are replacing a drainage pipe underneath the road, west of Stafford Indians Lane; Motorists should follow detour route Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Route 753 (Enon Road) in Stafford County will be closed to traffic immediately west of the intersection with Stafford Indians Lane on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24 for a drainage pipe replacement project.

Crews will excavate the existing 18-inch corrugated metal pipe, which is deteriorating, and replace it with a new 18-inch plastic pipe. After the pipe is installed, crews will pave the affected section of road with asphalt.

Traffic will always have access to travel between Route 1 and Stafford Indians Lane, which leads to Stafford High School and Chichester Park. The road closure will be located west of Stafford Indians Lane.

Weather permitting, Enon Road will close to through traffic at 7 a.m. Saturday and is anticipated to remain closed through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Motorists are encouraged to follow the recommended detour route during the closure:

  • Route 1
  • Route 652 (Truslow Road)

Message boards will be posted this week to alert drivers to the upcoming detour.
