NEW BRIDGE OPENS ON OWENS MILL ROAD IN KING AND QUEEN COUNTY
VDOT state forces bridge crew replaced a bridge over Rickenaw Creek; Detour route was lifted on Tuesday afternoon

FREDERICKSBURG, Va Route 619 (Owens Mill Road) in King and Queen County reopened to through traffic today after the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) completed construction of a new bridge over Rickenaw Creek.

VDOT's state forces bridge crew started construction on the bridge in February 2020. Traffic was detoured while crews replaced a timber deck bridge that was structurally deficient with a new concrete bridge.

Improvements include slightly wider travel lanes, freshly paved approaches on Owens Mill Road, and new bridge markers.

An average of 264 vehicles a day travel on this section of Owens Mill Road.
