MINE ROAD PARK AND RIDE COMMUTER LOT RESURFACING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 12 IN STAFFORD
Parking will be prohibited for 15 consecutive days while work is underway; Schedule updates posted to virginiadot.org/FredParkandRideResurfacing
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Resurfacing will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Park and Ride commuter lot at Mine Road in Stafford County.
The lot will be closed for 15 consecutive days starting Sept. 12, weather permitting.
The right turn lane for northbound Mine Road traffic to enter the commuter lot will also be closed.
This work is part of a $2.9 million maintenance project to resurface five Park and Ride lots in the Fredericksburg region and provide a smoother travel surface with fresh lane markings.
Construction is being staggered to allow lot users to relocate on a temporary basis to the closest convenient Park and Ride lot. To find an alternative Park and Ride lot location, visit the VDOT Park and Ride interactive map.
VDOT previously announced that two commuter lots are closing for 15 consecutive days for resurfacing starting Wednesday, Sept. 6: the Carmel Church lot in Caroline County and the Old Salem Church Road lot in Spotsylvania County. Message boards are posted in both locations to notify users of this work starting next Wednesday.
Later this fall, crews will also resurface the Gordon Road lot in Spotsylvania and the Falmouth (Route 17) lot in Stafford. The Gordon Road lot will be resurfaced in sections and will remain open during the project with reduced parking. Message boards will be posted in the lots to notify users ahead of time. Updated schedule information will also be posted online on the project page.
The project contractor is Superior Paving.
Additional Park and Ride Improvements
A $350,000 project for concrete repairs is already underway at spot locations in Fredericksburg area Park and Ride lots. Crews are repairing damaged curbs and sidewalk panels. All ramps will be made accessible.
Planning efforts are also underway to identify and replace bus shelters and bicycle racks as needed in area Park and Ride lots.
