JAMESTOWN-SCOTLAND FERRY TO SWITCH OVER TO FALL/ WINTER/SPRING OPERATING SCHEDULE
Seasonal schedule starts Sept. 12

The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry (JSF), operated by The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), will begin following the fall/winter/spring operating schedule starting Monday, Sept. 12.

The JSF transports motorists across the James River from Scotland to Jamestown in both directions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including major holidays, and is a free service.

The JSF has been operating on the summer operating schedule since May 27 to help accommodate the increase in ferry passengers during the summer travel season and will continue to do so through Sept. 12, later than the previously announced date of Sept. 5.

At all other times, the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry will follow the fall/winter/spring operating schedule.

There are four ferries and one of the largest ferries can hold up to 70 vehicles. Once on board, the trip is approximately 20 minutes. For more information on the JSF, including ferry schedules and views of traffic queues approximately one-half mile from the boarding locations, visit www.JSFerry.org. For updates on ferry service, motorists can call the ferry hotline at 1-800-VA-FERRY/1-800-823-3779.
