Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges March 6-11 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Details include:
Monday night, March 6, through Wednesday night, March 8
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday night, March 6, through Wednesday night, March 8
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.
Tuesday night, March 7
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, and then follow signs to Route 50 West or Route 50 East.
Wednesday night, March 8, and Thursday night, March 9
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
There will be intermittent complete closures of the ramp between midnight and 4 a.m. both nights for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. Note: The ramp will not be closed at times when it conflicts with other ramp closures.
Wednesday night, March 8, and Thursday night, March 9
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
There will be intermittent complete closures of the ramp between midnight and 4 a.m. both nights for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: The ramp will not be closed at times when it conflicts with other ramp closures.
Monday, March 6, and Tuesday, March 7
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 North and South
I-66 East Collector-Distributor Lane at Route 286
The ramps will be closed both nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for noise wall installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.
Tuesday, March 7, and Wednesday, March 8
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed both nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for striping, barrier removal, and overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Tuesday, March 7, through Thursday, March 9
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed Tuesday night from midnight to 4 a.m., and Wednesday and Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for striping, barrier removal, and overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.
Thursday night, March 9, through Saturday night, March 11
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage installation. Traffic will be directed to continue south on Route 28, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway), stay right to the Route 28 North ramp, then follow signs to I-66 East.
